Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898 - 1972)

Dutch artist known for his art featuring mathematically related themes. His work features impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, tessellations, and non-Euclidean geometry. Escher's artwork often contained mathematical objects including, polyhedra like the stellated dodecahedron and the Moebius strip. Much of his work features aspects of symmetry including all 17 wallpaper groups.
