Activity:
You will write a summary of each chapter in the Introduction to College
Studies: A Student Success Manual.
Each summary should be limited to the front side of a 4 x 6 index card.
Objective:
Your summary will demonstrate your ability to:
a.
identify the important ideas in each chapter,
b. summarize those ideas clearly
c. write a clear, logical and complete paragraph.
Process:
1.
Read the chapter.
2. Select the important ideas in each chapter.
3. Take notes on the selected sections.
4. Condense the important sections into sentences.
5. Write a complete summary paragraph.
6. Edit the summary until you are satisfied that it is clear, logical,
and complete.
Evaluation:
Each micro theme is worth 10 points. To earn the total 10 points your micro theme must:
1.
Include the title and the author.
2. Begin with a topic sentence that identifies the subject of the
chapter.
3. Include the major points of the chapter.
4. Connect each sentence logically.
5. Contain complete sentences that are free from spelling or grammar
errors.
Micro themes will be accepted on or before the due date.
There will be no points awarded for late micro themes.
