Purpose
Introduction to College Studies, a one credit hour course required of all freshmen, is designed to facilitate a successful adjustment to life at Olivet Nazarene University by introducing freshman to the ethos, the guiding principles, of the University. As students read and study the online text, it is expected that they will develop those academic skills and values that support student success at ONU. These skills and values include, in part, the ability to:
a.
use computer technology for word processing, e-mail, and Internet access,
b.
do independent library research,
c.
participate intelligently in class discussion,
d.
respect divergent viewpoints,
e.
manage time effectively,
f.
develop critical thinking skills,
g.
commit to consistent class attendance,
h.
develop successful study skills,
i. understand the ethos of Olivet Nazarene University,
and
j.
value the ONU mission.
