These puzzles all involve matching the edges of the pieces to fill a region or create
a specific structure. Technically jigsaw puzzles are edge match puzzles, but I am going
to have jigasaw puzzles as a separate category. Usually edge match puzzles involve pieces
that are squares, hexagons, or equilateral triangles. There are also 3-dimensional versions
of edge match puzzles.

There are 4 versions, you can see the 2 and 3 on the top two boxes. Each version has two solutions. As a side note there are 24 different ways to color the four ropes on each square, so each version has one pair of identical squares to get to 25 pieces total. |
