Jose Echegaray (1832-1916)

Jose Echergaray was a Spanish civil engineer and mathematician. He was also a well known dramatist and even shared the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1904 with Frederic Mistral. He was a Professor of Mathematics and Physics from 1854 to 1868 at Escuela de Caminos. Echegaray's works included Problemas de Geometría Analítica (Problems in Analytical Geometry) in 1685. He was considered the foremost Spanish mathematician of his time.
