Jurij Vega (1754 - 1802)
Slovene mathematician. He published a series of logarithm tables,
cumulating with Zakladnica Vseh logarithmov (Treasury of all Logarithms).
Vega also wrote a four volume textbook entitled, Vorlesungen über die
Mathematik (Lectures about Mathematics). He also calculated pi to a
record 140 places, though only 126 were correct. This record number of
digits of pi was not exceeded for 52 years.
