Torricelli, Evangelista (1608 - 1647)

Torricelli was an Italian mathematician and physicist. In mathematics he discovered the paradox sometimes known as Gabriel's horn that has a finite volume, but an infinite surface area. He may be best known for his invention of the barometer.
