Quetelet, Adolphe (1796 - 1874)

Quetelet was a Belgian mathematician and astronomer who was helped to introduce statistical methods to the social sciences. The new fields of probabilty and statistics were primarily used in astronomy, but he applied them to the scoial sciences, calling it social physics.
