Laplace, Pierre-Simon de (1749 - 1827)

Laplace was a French mathematician and astronomer. His Theorie analytiques des probabilities presented many of the fundamental results in probability and statistics. His treatise included the probability generating function, the method of least squares, and the central limit theorem. He also developed what is now known as the Laplace transform.
