Kovalevskaya, Sofia (1850 - 1891)

Kovalevskaya was a Russian mathematician who made significant contributions to analysis and differential equations. She was the first significant Russian woman mathematician as well as the first women to be appointed to a full professorship in Northern Europe, and the first woman editor of a scientific journal.
