Euclid of Alexandria (ca. 300 BC)

An ancient Greek mathematician often identified as the "Father of Geometry". The Elements was his crowning work in which be laid out and deduced geometric theorems from a small set of axioms. Euclid was the first to present these results in a comprehensive setting with a logical structure of mathematical proof that remains in use to this day.
