Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC)

Aristotle was a Greek philosopher whose writings covered many subjects. He was a student of Plato and was a personal tutor to Alexander the Great. Aristotle was an important figure in Western Philiosophy. While he was not considered a mathematician he was one of the first to embark on a formal study of logic. Aristotelian logic is named after him.
