Ancient Greek Mathematician, inventor, engineer, and astronomer. Considered one of the greatest mathematicians of all time, he proved that the areas of a circle is pi times the radius squared, he anticipated Calculus using infinitesimals, and the result he may have been most proud of was to show that the volume of a sphere is 2/3 the volume of a circumscribing right circular cylinder, the image of which was placed on his tombstone at his request. During the Siege of Syracuse he was killed by a Roman soldier despite orders that he be taken alive.
