Receiving 2005 First Team All-American Honors

My name is Amanda Jensen.  I am a 2003 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, an NAIA affiliated Christian university located in Bourbonnais, IL.  There I received many honors including CCAC conference Player of the Year, NCCAA Region VII and National Player of the Year, as well as NFCA and NAIA First Team All-American.   In 2003, I was selected as the 12th overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch draft by the Arizona Heat.  Currently, I am the assistant coach at my alma mater, as well as a member of the Stratford Brakettes professional (NPF) softball team, which is located in Stratford, CT.  This passed summer I received First Team All-American honors as a player for this team.  In college I played all 4 years at shortstop, and for the Brakettes I play mainly second base and left field.  I believe intensely in hard work, and that if a player doesn't possess the dedication and drive to want to get better everyday then she won't be very successful in the long run for this sport.  A player has to be willing to leave it all out on the field and give everything she's got on every single play in a game AND in practice.  Without displaying this love for the game, she won't be able to experience the true benefits that it can furnish.

My absolute favorite player Charlie Hough                         My amazing cat, Kitty

On the more personal side, I LOVE everything about Major League Baseball.  You can't ask me a trivia question that I don't know about the sport!  I grew up a Chicago White Sox fan, but I must admit my favorite team is the New York Mets.  My favorite team ever though is the 1992 Chicago White Sox (I could tell you anything and everything you would ever want to know about that team), and my favorite player to ever play the game is the knuckleball pitcher Charlie Hough!  A couple more things that I like (besides baseball) are pigs (my favorite animal), the number 3, the movies Regarding Henry and Tommy Boy the television shows Quantum Leap and Murphy Brown, brand new tennis shoes, diving into a base head first, and most importantly my 10 year old "muscular" (not fat) orange cat I call Kitty!
