Sierpinski, Waclaw (1882-1969)

Sierpinski was a Polish mathematician who contributed to set theory, number theory and topology. He was a prolific writer publishing over 700 papers and 50 books. Several fractals are named after him, including Sierpinski's Triangle and carpet.
