Farkas Bolyai was a Hungarian mathematician who worked in the area of geometry. His son Janos is more famous for his work on the study of non-Euclidean geometry. Farkas' main work was Tentamen which was an attempt at a rigorous foundation of geomtery, arithmetic, algebra and analysis.
