1. Objective: Students will show an understanding of the book The Cat in the Hat by acting out the story or by making the story into a song or rap.
The teacher reads The Cat in the Hat to the class and facilitates discussion of the book. Students divide into teams and read the story again. Each coopertive team decides what kind of activity they would like to do to demonstrate their understanding of the story. Possible activities might be acting out the story, presenting a song or rap about the story, or any other idea that the group might have. Groups will then present their activities to the entire class.
2. Objective: Students will locate the teacher selected web address for "Seussville". They will successfully type the E-mail address and send an E-mail message.
Students will practice typing various E-mail addressses at the keyboard. After they are proficient at this they will search the Web for the Seussville home page and locate the link for "Ask the Cat". They will then choose a question to ask the cat and follow teacher directions to fill in all the fields for sending an E-mail. They can print their various E-mail replys and read them to the entire class.
