Whatever group you belong to, majority or minority, this activity is intended to give you more information about cultural and racial prejudice. In both cases you will interview someone who is of the minority culture. Print out this sheet and take it with you to your "interview."

If you’re a member of the majority culture...

Find someone on campus who is of a different culture or race than yours. Ask if you can speak to her or him for a minute or so. Ask him or her the following questions:

1) Can you give an example, large or small, of an instance of racial discrimination on this campus?

2) What advice do you have for members of the majority culture about dealing with members of the minority culture on this campus?

If you’re a member of the minority culture...

Find someone on campus who is of the same culture or race as yours, if possible. Ask if you may speak to him or her for a minute. Ask him or her the following two questions:

1) Can you give an example, large or small, of an instance of racial discrimination on this campus?

2) What advice do you have for members of your culture about how to succeed in college on this campus?
