When doing a research paper, you have to narrow the topic so you can cover the subject within the scope of the paper. For example, you would not write a paper simply titled "England." You would have to limit it to "The Punk Rock Scene in the Eighties in England" or "Jane Austin and the English Countryside."

Think of a broad topic that you couldn’t possibly cover in one paper:

Now list five or six narrowed topics that are within the larger topic you wrote above:

Write six questions you would like to see answered in a paper if you were reading about the subject.
