How do you rank in all the areas? For each category rank yourself from 1-5, with 1 being excellent and 5 being you have little skill in that area.

1. BEING OPEN TO NOVELTY

Give an example of when you were open to something new:

2. BEING ALERT TO DISTINCTION

Give an example of this alertness:

3. BEING AWARE OF MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVES

Are you caught up in your own thoughts too much? When have you been "blind" to the views of others?

4. BEING ORIENTED IN THE PRESENT

How many times are you sitting in class or are talking on the phone when your mind wanders away? How many times do you eat in front of the TV, rather than concentrating on the tastes and textures of your food? Do you consider yourself as being aware of the moment or do you think about the past and future?

List a time when you were completely engaged in the moment. Maybe it was at a concert or when you were dancing--taking in the moving bodies, your own heart beating, the colors and music...

If you scored a "4" or "5" in any of the areas, how will you improve that weakness?
