Dr. Richardson has over thirty years of experience in teaching at both secondary and post-secondary levels in family and consumer sciences. She has also had a brief experience teaching 4th grade and junior high. She earned the Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Her undergraduate and masters degrees from Olivet Nazarene University in education have prepared her for the art of teaching; while substantial hours in housing and environmental design from Illinois State University and professional development courses in kitchen and bath design have prepared her for teaching in interior design.

As a certified family and consumer science professional, Dr. Richardson is a firm believer in professional development and professional service. She has served as the state president for the Illinois Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (IAFCS), and is on the board for District I IAFCS. Dr. Richardson is the secretary for the Council of Administrators in Family and Consumer Sciences. She has chaired the general education Committee at ONU, served on the ADA Committee, Campus Beautification Committee, Faculty Retreat Committee, the Education Faculty Committee and Academic Council.
