Service Projects

Each year senior students in FACS 498 Professional Issues and Actions research the possibility of a service project for the students in family and consumer sciences (FACS). The project is usually based on one of the critical issues designated by the American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). The student research teams are interdisciplinary and have student representation from each of the specializations offered in FACS at Olivet Nazarene University. Once the student research teams have presented their proposals they recruit others in the department to help implement the service. Each FACS student is asked to earn 1 service point per year by participating in one of the senior projects.

Our goal is that students who graduate from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences will be prepared for Christ-centered service to all types of individuals, families, and communities. That preparation is enhanced by using our individual interests and academic specializations collectively to help others in need.
