Family & Consumer Sciences
Student Portfolio
The faculty members in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences require students to develop a portfolio as part of their education process. It is turned in for a grade in the senior seminar course FACS 498 Professional Issues and Actions. Students work on the portfolio for four years. It is a collection of projects and documents that represents their best work at Olivet Nazarene University. Part of it can be used during job interviews and/or for application to some graduate schools. It also provides faculty with a resource to assess student progress as it demonstrates the breath and depth of student ability.
Students will receive verification forms for FACS Service Projects through the FACS Department. They can also receive Cocurricular Transcripts from http://www.olivet.edu/studentlife/resources/studentsuccess/cotranscript.asp for leadership activities that they participate in during their college years. Both of these forms are an important part of the portfolio. It is the student's responsibility to ask for and keep the forms throughout their college career.
All FACS majors should print a copy of the Portfolio Minimum Standards.
