Kappa Omicron Nu the Family and Consumer Science Honor Society holds membership initiations twice a year once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. Kappa Omicron Nu places emphasis on academic excellence as well as personal values and concern for fellow humans. It focuses on the total development of students and their commitment to professional and personal ideals. Kappa Omicron Nu states that a student must meet the following requirements for membership:
Signify intent to complete a major in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department
Have a minimum average of 3.0 in Family and Consumer Sciences subjects and an overall average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and rank in the upper 25% of his/her graduating class.
Have completed 45 hours of college work or the equivalent, including 8 semester hours in Family and Consumer Sciences by the time of initiation.
Show evidence of superior personal qualities and potentialities of leadership as established by the chapter.
Membership in Student Section of FCS.
