Story: 20 -
Years after the original, the intent of the story is fascinating. However, in the new version there are some plot holes that are never filled, things that are never explained, and events that are only included for visual impact. While the intent is great, the story gets hurt.
Acting: 21 -
Tim Roth is the highlight of this film. His role as villian is surprisingly convincing. Michael Clark Duncan plays a good rough and tough colonel, but Mark Whalberg is a little flat. Some of it might have had to do with the dialogue, but many of the supporting cast were weak, save a great cameo by Charlton Heston.

No knocks on these guys. Incredible visuals, great mood and simply unbeliveable makeup. Tim Burton shows his best stuff once again.
Impact: 7 -
Overall, a very interesting take on the original. However, the interesting ending is a little contrived and the rest of the movie doesn't live completely up to its potential.
Modifiers: + 6 -
Absolutely groundbreaking makeup. A great version of a classic, and Charlton Heston puts one point here just because he is in it.
