A.I. - 81 none
Story: 27 - Very unique insight into the longing of every person to be loved. We see and feel the horrifying confusion of human interaction. This is a masterpiece effort that is tarnished by its hurried ending. Original concept is fascinating, but the outcome turns out to be too cliche.

Acting: 29 - Joel Haley Osmont is an astounding actor. He has an amazing ability to show a world of hurt and pain in a simple look. Jude Law plays his part of giaglo robot to a T. Nearly all of the supporting cast came across very engaging and believeable. Why not 30? Chris Rock. He had one line in the film, but it was so totally out of character that it stuck out horribly.

Creators: 16 - Excellent production, sound, and direction. However Spielberg tries so hard to be Kubrick-esque, that it shows through in a few areas. The ending, although not a total disaster, fell away from the general mood of the whole movie.

Impact: 7 - This is a "made you think" movie. You definitely walk out of the theatre thinking. However, there could have been a better resolution.

Modifiers: +2 - Some very innovative special effects. Watch for the incredible reflection shots!

A Civil Action - 80
Story: 28 -

Acting: 25 - Robert Duvall. Sometimes that is all you need to say. But with this movie it says much more. Excellent acting by most of the cast carries the show. The only downer was John Travolta. He is very good at portraying the jerky and careless man at the begining, but I never found him believeable as 1) a lawyer and 2)a caring lawyer. William H. Macy is quirkily superb as usual.

Creators: 20 - Very well-made film. Some good visuals in what is mostly a law movie. Moods are set extremely well and the actors fit in them to a tee.

Impact: 9 - The only thing that detracts slightly from the impact of this movie is the bit of lost consistency with the ending. The movie makes you think twice about trusting in business morals.

Modifiers: - 2 - The ending to this movie slightly tainted the rest of the show. Very slow building the story, but then the ending seemed very thrown together and packed way too much information in a few minutes. It left me almost fogetting the good in the movie and remembering the hurried ending.
